El CEL CALAFATE FROM HEIGHTSalafate desde Las Alturas
The 1100 meter climb to Huyliche Hill starts from El Calafate. At the top, you will have a panoramic view of the Andes Mountain Range, Patagonian Steppe and Argentino Lake. You will also be surrounded by fantastic rock formations where the geological evolution of Southern Patagonia can be appreciated. This will be the first stop where we exit the vehicle, capture photos, and take a short walk to the edge of the balconies. Next, we will explore the unique labyrinth and caves of Cretaceous period with the lake and the mountain range in the background. If it is clear, it will be possible to see the Fitz Roy Mountain and the channels of the Argentino Lake.
For the descend, the group will be split into 3 smaller groups, depending on the option chosen. Everybody will arrive at the same time at the Estancia. So, within your group of reservation you can choose different ways to descend, as we will all meet together at the base for lunch or a cup of tea. The total duration of the excursion is 3.5 hours.
Frequency: Every day.
Schedule: 10 am to 1.30 pm. Lunch included / 6 pm to 9.30 pm. Snack included.
What to bring? Sunglasses, sunscreen, outdoor clothing, and trekking shoes.
WHAT CAN I DO?
Ascent to the upper balcony, where all the branches of Argentino Lake can be appreciated, including South Branch. If it is clear, it will also be possible to see Mount Fitz Roy, and the Southern Patagonian Icefield. During the descent, we will make a short stopover to take an interpretive walk on the steppe.
Difficulty level: Easy. Not suitable for people with spinal injuries, or neck problems. It is not recommended for minors under 4 years.
Guided walk of 90 minutes through the north slope of the hill with views of Argentino Lake, walking around the Cretaceous period valley with unique geologic formations, amazingly eroded by the ice, water and wind.
Difficulty: Moderate. It requires to be in good physical condition. Not suitable for people with spinal injuries, neck problems or overweight.
Great adventure descending our exclusive circuit divided into 5 routes of zipline of 2920 meters length. We will provide all the necessary equipment to enjoy this unique experience of flying over the mountain as only condors can do. The descent is made together with 2 of our guides.
Difficulty: Moderate. It requires to be in good physical condition. Not suitable for people with spinal injuries, or neck problems. Maximum weight 100 kg (220 lbs.)
