Gigantes Patagones

Cerro Frías Supertrekk

Unique traverse to the top of Cerro Frías

A trip for trekking and history lovers

Experience a unique trek to the summit of Cerro Frías — perfect for lovers of hiking, history, and Patagonian adventure.

We set off from the historic heart of the estancia. After an initial walk, we reach Refugio Leñador, a site full of history where woodcutters gathered firewood in the early 20th century.

From there, the trail leads us deep into a lenga forest. After a challenging 1.5-hour ascent, the landscape opens up to breathtaking views of the Cordón de los Cristales, the Centinela River valley, and—weather permitting—the majestic Torres del Paine.

We reach an altitude of 1,095 meters above sea level, where a 360° panoramic view leaves us speechless: Lago Argentino, the peaks of the Andes, the Cordón de los Baguales, and, with a bit of luck, the impressive Fitz Roy on the horizon.

The descent follows alternative trails that reveal new perspectives of the mountain, with stops at historic shelters to enjoy a hearty Patagonian lunchbox and recharge. The adventure wraps up with a traditional afternoon snack at the estancia’s main house — the perfect ending to an epic Patagonian journey.
