Minitrekking 2.0
Walk on the Perito Moreno Glacier.
Touch the Glacier with your hands
After traveling along Provincial Route 11 and entering the great Los Glaciares National Park, we will arrive at the Bajo las Sombras Port.
There, we will embark to navigate the Rico Arm of Lake Argentino for about 20 minutes and descend into Puma Bay just 500 m from the Perito Moreno Glacier.
The journey begins with the reception of the mountain guides and a walk of approximately 1 hour along the coast of the lake.
Then, different groups of 20 people will be organized, they will be given the corresponding equipment to ascend the glacier and they will be given a talk with the safety measures.
This circuit is of medium/high difficulty, the ice surface is firm and safe, but irregular. The pace of walking is constant, with few stops.
The route is almost 5 km, on rocky, dirt and also ice terrain. The total walking time is approximately 3 hours. Unlike the classic mini-trekking, you walk twice the distance in the same amount of time.
On this excursion, you will be able to observe the different formations of a glacier: from crevasses to sinkholes, seracs or lagoons.
At the end of this journey, you will visit the base of the waterfall from where you will walk back along the lateral moraine until you reach our starting point again: Puma Bay.
We will embark back to the port, always on the lookout in case the majestic Perito Moreno Glacier says goodbye to us with a landslide.
Once back at the port, if you have contracted the transfer service with Gigantes Patagones, we will go to the walkways to admire the glacier from dry land and thus complete a day full of adventure and natural beauty.
