This excursion takes half a day. We will visit Cerro Frías, which is located near the city of El Calafate, on the way to the Perito Moreno Glacier. As it is not part of the Andes, it offers spectacular views of Torres del Paine, Cerro Fitz Roy, Cordón de los Cristales, and the main body of Argentino Lake. It offers the possibility of doing 4 guided adventure tourism activities, which take place simultaneously on different circuits of Cerro Frías: 4×4, zip-lining, trekking, and horseback riding.

4X4

We will start this tour by picking passengers up from their hotels in El Calafate and heading towards Cerro Frías, 25 km from El Calafate. Once there, we will begin our ascent in 4×4 along the side of the hill.

After about 20 minutes, we will stop at the first viewpoint at 450 m high with views of the Centinela River valley. We will continue the ascent to the second viewpoint at 1030 m with views of Torres del Paine, Rico and South Arms of Argentino Lake, Roca Lake, the Cristales mountain range, the Témpanos canal and the North Arm of Argentino Lake, Boca del Diablo, the highest peaks of the Andes and Mount Fitz Roy if weather conditions permit.

After staying at the summit and taking photos, we will descend to the base of the hill where we will have free time in the local barbecue area to have lunch, a snack or dinner depending on the selected time.

Zip-line:

We will start this tour by picking passengers up from their hotels in El Calafate and heading towards Cerro Frías, 25 km from El Calafate.

Once there, we will be given an informative talk on safety regulations at the barbecue area. We will begin our ascent in a 4×4 along the side of the hill and we will be able to observe the beech forests, the native flora and fauna. The descent platform located at 560 m on the southern slope of Cerro Frías will be our goal. There all the equipment will be examined again and we will prepare to cross the 2530 m of cable, arranged in 5 routes (paths) that allow you to enjoy maximum adrenaline when reaching high speeds. During the tour you will be able to appreciate the incredible panoramic views of Torres del Paine, Centinela Valley, Roca Lake, and the southern arm of Argentino Lake. Upon reaching the base of the hill, we will have free time at the barbecue area to have lunch or a snack included according to the selected schedule.

Then we begin the return to El Calafate.

Trekking

We will begin this tour by picking passengers up from their hotels in El Calafate and heading towards Cerro Frías, 25 km from El Calafate.

Once at the ranch, we will begin the tour and cross a plain to begin to climb the slopes of the mountain. After 30 minutes, we will see the views of the Centinela Valley and the Torres del Paine. The tour continues uphill until reaching high fields on the hill, where you can eventually see the ranch’s cattle (cows) and wild animals such as guanacos, hares, foxes, armadillos and skunks. From this field, you have an impressive view of Lake Argentino, Torres del Paine, the Rico arm, the valley of the Anita ranch, among others. The trekking time is approximately 2 hours and the degree of difficulty of the walk is low.

Upon reaching the base of the hill, we will have free time to have lunch, a snack or dinner according to the selected time.

Horseback Riding

We will begin this ride by picking passengers up from their hotels in El Calafate and heading towards Cerro Frías, 25 km from El Calafate.

Once there, we will begin the tour and cross a plain to begin to climb the slopes of the mountain. After 30 minutes, we will see the views of Centinela Valley and Torres del Paine.
