CALAFATE BALCONIES

Balcones de Calafate excursion is a 4×4 trip that takes place on Huyliche Hill located 1050 m.a.s.l. At this site, you can appreciate one of the best views of the city of El Calafate. It is ideal for the first or last day of your stay.

We will begin this tour by picking passengers up from their hotels in El Calafate and heading towards the access to the Huyliche hill, located 15 km from the city, from where the ascent begins.

The first stop is at a natural viewpoint that offers an excellent panoramic view of El Calafate and the main body of Lake Argentino and in the background the unforgettable setting of the Andes mountain range; sometimes, you can even see the Fitz Roy hill.

We will continue to the Laberinto de Piedras. This is a formation from the Cretaceous period that dates back 85 million years. From here, we begin the descent down the northern slope of the hill to Piedra de los Sombreros.

Finally, we will return to El Calafate and descend without losing sight of the imposing Argentino Lake.

As an optional option (with prior reservation) it allows you to add 30 minutes of “Quads” The starting point of the “Quads” trip is at our shelter at the top of the hill, where with the necessary technical equipment, we will begin an 8 km journey, we will enter ancient geography and the most attractive corners of the Huyliche hill. At the end, we will meet up with the 4×4 vehicles to begin the descent to the city.

Restrictions: minimum age of driver: 16 years / Minimum age of companion: 10 years

Frequency: daily.

Duration: 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. / 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Included: lunch or snack depending on the schedule.

What to bring?: warm and comfortable clothing, sunglasses, hat and gloves.

Cancellation policy: allows cancellation without charges up to 72 hours before the date of the activity.

No show: in case of not taking the service on the date, time and place agreed, 100% of the cost of the service will be charged as cancellation fees.
