EXPLORE THE CAPITAL OF TREKKING

Depart from El Calafate towards the legendary Route 40, where we will stop at viewpoints to appreciate different views of Argentino Lake, Viedma Lake, and if the weather allows it, Mount Fitz Roy, and the Andes Mountain range.
Halfway, we stop at La Leona Parador (historical site), before continuing to El Chaltén.

WHAT TO DO IN EL CHALTÉN?

Pudu Lodge is the meeting point, where self-guided hikes begin. There are trails to Fitz Roy viewpoint or Cerro Torre (Capri lagoon, Torre viewpoint, etc.). We will recommend different options according to physical condition and we will provide hiking trail maps.
Difficulty level: Moderate.
Distance to cover: Passengers decision, a map with distances and times will be provided.

The tour begins from Pudu Lodge and continues for 37km along the canyon of Las Vueltas River. On the way, we will visit some cascades. When arriving at Del Desierto lake, we will embark to sail for Vespignani Reserve, there begins a 45 minutes walk up to the base of Vespignani Glacier, the biggest and most impressive of Del Desierto lake. There is also a possibility of having an incredible view of the north face of Mount Fitz Roy from height.

Frequency: Every day From October to April 30th.

Schedule: 7 am to 8 pm

The walk begins from El Chaltén, to the Condors viewpoint, where you will have incredible views of the village, De las Vueltas river, and Fitz Roy and Torre mountains. Then, we will descend to go to a restaurant for lunch.
Later on, after having lunch, we go to “Chorrillo del Salto”, a waterfall 4 km away from El Chaltén. There we will enjoy a charming landscape and a waterfall of 20 meters of height. We return to El Chaltén, where you will have some free time, about 45 minutes to wander around the village, before returning to El Calafate.

Once we arrive at El Chaltén, we continue in vehicle to Hostería del Pilar. From here, you start walking together with a trekking guide, passing through Piedras Blancas Glacier, Poincenot Campsite, Mount Fitz Roy, up to our camping base. There, they wait for us to have lunch. Next, descent continues to El Chaltén passing by Laguna Capri.
This option entails physical effort, it is only suitable for people in good condition, with appropriate clothing to hike in the mountains. The hike takes about 6 hours.
